Culture: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Plant the seed and watch it grow, and grow, and grow, and grow… You get the picture. Culture is the gift that keeps on giving.
Culture is defined as the shared values, belief systems, and attitudes that set the assumptions and perceptions that people in the workplace share. And you know what they say: Perception is reality.
Collective cultures are cultivated when the community shares in the values and behaviors the culture is built on. Every company has a different set of core values that shape the norms in the workplace. A sustainable workplace culture is one that provides employees the support and resources that they want and need (as opposed to what we as employers tell them they should want and need) so that they can do their best work. You can’t build a culture independent of employees – employees are the culture. Each one of us embodies the values, characteristics, behaviors, and attitudes needed to continually build on the foundation. It is a way of understanding others, bringing people together, and recognizing differences and similarities.
Ask yourself if you are being a champion of our culture – Do I embody the characteristics below? Do I look for ways to contribute to continually build our culture bench?
